Regence BlueShield Update

You deserve to be cared for by a physician or professional provider who is committed to offering you compassionate, quality care. And we’ve been privileged to count you as our patient, serving you with leading physicians backed by the area’s most advanced health services, including those at our hospitals in Bremerton and Silverdale, as well as Harrison HealthPartners clinics.

We are disappointed to share with you that we’ve been unable to reach an agreement with Regence BlueShield of Washington regarding fair payment for our physician and hospital services. We’ve strived to reach a contract with Regence that helps us keep up with the increasing costs of technology, medicines, labor, energy, and other expenses. However, unlike other insurers in this area with whom we’ve worked out acceptable contracts, Regence has refused to provide fair and comparable reimbursement, and our contract with Regence is scheduled to end on July 30, 2014.

This means that unless a new contract is signed by July 30, any services we provide to patients with Regence will be considered “out of network.” That will result in higher out-of-pocket costs for Regence customers who choose Harrison physicians, hospitals, and services. However, it’s important to note that we will continue to negotiate with Regence BlueShield in good faith and hope to reach an agreement. The affected plans include:

  • Uniform Medical Plan
  • Federal Employee Plan (professional services)
  • Medicare Advantage
  • TriWest (Veteran’s Affairs)
  • BridgeSpan
  • All other commercial plans

We encourage you to contact Regence to let their leaders know how much you value the relationship with your physician or professional provider and all the services provided by Harrison. We will keep you informed of any additional changes and hope we will be able to continue offering you access to all the advanced care and services of Harrison.
