About pulmonary cancer

Pulmonary cancer is lung cancer. It’s the most common cancer worldwide. In 2008, there were about 233,000 new cases just in the United States.

At Harrison, we treat many types and subtypes of lung cancer, including

  • Classical small cell
  • Mixed tumor
  • Large cell
  • Adenocarcinoma
  • Squamous cell
  • Salivary gland tumors
  • Mesothelioma
  • Adenosquamous
  • Carcinoid tumors
  • Sarcomatoid

Harrison’s lung cancer treatments

We offer the full range of the latest therapies for the majority of lung cancers. The treatment you have depends on a few things about the cancer: type, size, and staging, which means how far it has spread.

  • Advanced chemotherapy
  • Video-Assisted thoracic surgery
  • Targeted radiation therapy

Harrison’s unique healthcare

In today’s busy world, it seems that you can’t get it all in one hospital. You get either the latest in medical care or the personal touch that we all want. We believe you can’t have quality healthcare unless you have both.

Our doctors and medical staff are highly advanced in the field of cancer, but something else is equally important. We’re friendly, compassionate, and we treat you with respect. You’ll experience this throughout Harrison Medical Center and its clinics.

New technology in lung cancer diagnosis

The newest advances in pulmonary oncology are in two areas: diagnosis and staging.

Harrison has the new endobronchial ultrasound—also called EBUS. It allows you to have a biopsy of your lymph nodes without invasive surgery. Instead, EBUS uses a tiny fiber-optic scope in the bronchial tubes.

Compassionate honesty

Our Harrison team understands how fearful people are when it comes to cancer. You never forget the first time you heard your diagnosis. We also know that most people want to know the truth about what to expect with treatment. We give it to you straight but with the compassion of a loving friend—we call it compassionate honesty.
